Frequently asked questions

What is a home energy assessment? +

A home energy assessment is an in-home survey where a specialist inspects your property — roof, heating system, insulation and energy usage — and recommends suitable upgrades such as solar panels, battery storage, an air source heat pump or insulation, with a clear written quote.

Do you issue EPC certificates? +

No. We do not issue EPC certificates. We focus on in-home energy assessments that lead to clear recommendations and a quote for paid upgrades. If you need an EPC for a specific purpose, you should contact a domestic energy assessor who provides that service.

Is the survey no-obligation? +

Yes. The survey is arranged so you can understand your options. You receive a written quote and are under no pressure to proceed with any installation.

Who carries out the installation? +

We install through MCS-certified partners. The installation work is carried out by our MCS-certified partner to the recognised industry standard for renewable technologies.

Which areas of Scotland do you cover? +

We arrange surveys across mainland Scotland and accessible island locations, from the Highlands and Aberdeenshire down through Tayside, Fife, the Central Belt, Lothian, Ayrshire and the Borders. See our Areas Covered page for the full regional list.

What does it cost? +

Because every home is different, we provide a specific written quote after the in-home survey rather than a generic price list. The quote sets out the recommended upgrades, the reasons for each, and the applicable VAT treatment. See our Costs page for the factors that influence price.

Is finance available? +

Loans are available, subject to status, for homeowners considering a paid installation. Please mention this when you book your survey or when you receive your quote if you would like to discuss the option.

Do you offer the Boiler Upgrade Scheme? +

No. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme is available in England and Wales only and is not applicable to Scottish homeowners. We do not participate in it.

Is there 0% VAT on solar and batteries? +

Yes. 0% VAT currently applies on solar panel and battery storage installations until 31 March 2027. Standard VAT applies to heat pump and insulation work. Your quote will set out the applicable treatment for each item.

How do I book a survey? +

Complete the short form on our Get a Quote page, or call us on 0141 230 0198. A member of our team will call you back to arrange a convenient time for the in-home visit.

How long does a survey take? +

A typical in-home survey takes 45 to 90 minutes, depending on the size of your property and the number of upgrades being considered. The surveyor needs access to your loft, heating system and the exterior of the property.

Will I be pressured to buy? +

No. You receive a written quote and can take as much time as you need to decide. There is no obligation to proceed, and our team is available to answer any questions about the quote without pressure.
